COVID-19 ‘Global Empowerment Fund’ Phishing Scam

People are being asked to remain alert to the latest phishing scam targeting your bank account details and personal information.

Scammers pretending to be government officials from the FTC are contacting people with a fake story about a newly created ‘Global Empowerment Fund’ which has been set up to assist with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

This is a scam – “The FTC will never contact you by phone, email, text message, or social media to ask for your financial information. (Or your Social Security number.)”
